Ok I am probably a bit young for this (as I still own my first car)

But just interested to know what where your first cars??

Pictures would be even cooler!

My first motor was a Yellow Triumph herald , it had Orange fur on the dashboard and 2 big whip aerials on the back wings. I installed 2 rubber anti static straps hanging from the rear bumper, which had lightning bolts painted on them, this of course gave me at least 10 more miles per hour
lol!

I still own my first car as well. Its a 1981 Saab 900 5dr GLs which is metallic blue. I bought it for 200 quid from a college friend as I had wanted one since I was 4. It worked hard for years taking me to Uni and work and was great. I even used it for some film work. I have had it for 12 years but sadly big end failure has laid it up at the mo. It will live again, possibly slammed!

Still also have the second car I ever bought and I think the third!

I also have the first car I ever actually drove at the age of 14! My mum let me loose in her Hillman imp on the west cliff at Ramsgate and this started my second car obsession!

This car has ben stored for some years but hopefully work will progress this winter!

Rich

my fist car off the road was when i was 11, my dad used to have his own garage and he gave me a bright yellow renault 12 with a buggered head gasket which meant i could only drive it around his yard for a short while before it overheated!!! i soon got bored with it and treated myself to a vanden plas (all-agro!!)1500!! it was a piece of luxury motoring to me witth its leather seats, picnic tables AND 5 speed box!!! my first car on the road was a 1986 vauxhall mk2 cavalier GL rescued from the scrap yard i work at!! ther has since been many more cars resued by myself!!

1956 Austin A30, off-white colour with large vinyl Donald Duck on the offside door to hide paint damage.

That was followed by a 1963 Hillman Super Minx, then a 1966 Morris 1000. Went back to bikes for a bit with a 1967 Bonneville. Sold for £200 (if I knew how I'd insert one of those yellow face things with a tear in its eye here). Next was an HB Viva (bit of a come-down after the Bonny); Morris Marina (rusted like a champion but remarkably reliable); 1984 Vauxhall Chevette (my first and only new car); Austin Maestro (written off after one week); another Maestro (rusted even more enthusiastically than the Marina); Austin Somerset; Peugeot 405; Fiat Punto (would now insert a blushing face thing); and now the Rover that you see top left. I don't have a modern car, though partner has another Punto and I have a Honda CB750.

Mine was a mark 2 cortina hand painted in pale yellow, that stripped off in sheets to reveal purple underneath.I certanly cut a dash.I bought the car when I was 16 and set about de coking the engine and polishing (very gently see above) I passed my test 17yrs and 3 months. Then within 3 days ran it into the Monkton roundabout, and spent 3 months putting it back together. I kept it for a year or so then sold it for a mini.Even now that puts a lump in my throat

Those are some cool pics!
Looks like Ramsgate Pleasurama? I am sure someone will correct me though?

Might well be Ramsgate

The family used to go to both Margate and Ramsgate for summer hols. one or other depending on which relations we went with.

Might post some other photos on an off topic thread, dare say someone might recognise something from the 40's and 50's.

Why we moved to Essex I can't remember as most of the time out of NW London was spent in Kent Laughing

In the last picture, Tony, doesn't it look like Ramsgate Pleasurama? Or is it just me?

I think so mate, Certainly between Pleasurama and the old Marina bathing pool.

The cars really look fun, great pictures.

Bare in mind it was over 50 years ago, If I recall correcrly there was a small boating pool next door to the car track, the car track was just an oval as well.
The photos I have are only a few left over after loosing nearly alll to floods.

I'll sort them and throw them to my Bucket and post them on here.
As I say they are from the late 40's early 50's.

It was in 1972 and was a Simca Elysee that my father imported from Cyprus in the early Sixties.

Cool Cool I just googled some pictures of the simca Elysee, hadn't heard of this one before.
I once had a 1972 Simca van which was really good old workhorse.
