Hi guys! Made a hello thread but thought I would properly post up my car too.

I've just recently bought it after looking out for something interesting and cheap to run, and this cropped up and I had to get it.

Its a 1988 Mitsubishi Colt 1500 GLX. It's had 1 owner from new, old guy owned it and he decided to stop driving this year at the age of 90, which makes me the cars second owner.

Engine is completely original as it came out the factory, and only things that have been changed is the usual serviceable bits, and the battery. It's only done 18,700 miles!!

Anyway, here are the pics!

Interior is a bit grubby but from just a quick wipe it seems like no problem. Will get onto cleaning it tomorrow.

Sadly Adrian Flux told me that the car was too old to transfer it over to my current insurance policy. They expected me to stop my current policy and start a new one for £4,000! Must have thought I was born yesterday!

Either way it means I will have to wait till the end of July for my renewal when I get a years NCB so I can go on to insure this! At least it gives me time to clean the car of the little dirt it does have so its sparkling for when I can finally drive it!

Nice looking car Lex, very clean. And only 18,700 Shocked Shocked

The old gent seems to have treated her well, was she kept in a garage.

Cheers!

Never told me it was garaged, but he must have stored it somewhere dry because theres no rust anywhere. It has spent it's life by the seaside too in Southend!

I wanna get the underside waxoyl'd though but not sure how much thats going to cost!

There is something really endearing about an old Jap car, why not try RH Classics in Brentwood for your insurance, my wife insured her Toyota Carina II 1987 model for £112 full comp 5000 miles a year and inclusive breakdown cover 01277 206911

Nice car! Looks soooooo clean, have you got any plans for it or are you going to keep it standard?

Thanks! I did plan to drop it on 14x7 Lotus Eclat Turbines, which I know will look good, but I think this car is too new and original for me to be doing anything like that, at least for now. Basically plan is to completely clean it up, replace the couple of things that need replacing (rear light for example, as one has a crack).

The biggest thing is cleaning the interior. The one downside to this car is the old boy who owned it before used to smoke in it, so the headliner has a brown patch above the drivers seat, clearly he was a bit dirty as the seats and door card fabrics are pretty dirty.

Rob, you're not the first person to suggest RH Classics actually! I guess I should give them a call tomorrow then and see what they say!
